Here is what some people have been waiting for........KALEA'S PLATFORM!:-) :

My Platform is "Keeping Music Education In Schools." Statistics show that students who are involved in music perform better in their classes and rank in the top half of their graduating class. Not only does it improve scholastic involvement, but instrumental classes provide children with something that they have to work hard at, something that takes time, dedication, and LOTS of practice. As a musician, students can learn to devote their time to something that makes them feel good about themselves.
When I was nine years old, I discovered the viola. Instantly, I was eager to begin classes, and enrolled in the local beginning orchestra. With each performance, we became better and better, and our audiences grew larger and larger. With each song, the notes became faster, and the melodies more complicated. My confidence in my playing ability increased, until I was able to play solo. This led to me playing at my local retirement home, Christmas gatherings, and even a party held by Microsoft founder, Bill Gates. Now, at 14 years old, music is my way of expression, pride, and joy.
Recently, I traveled to all the elementary schools in our district with some high school students to let eager fifth graders try out new instruments. As the only junior high student, I was a little intimidated, but still had a great time. The elementary students were so happy to make music, I was so glad to see them enjoying playing an instrument. I told them about the joys of playing an instrument, and many promised me that I would see their faces playing in the new beginning orchestra. When time came to enroll, I saw many faces, and I was glad I was able to help them find an instrument that they would enjoy forever. Now, I volunteer with those kids, and encourage them to stick with it, even when it gets tough!!!!!
With decreasing music teachers, our instrumental classes are being depleted in many of America's schools. I hope to prevent this from happening, and to act as a role model for younger students who hope to become part of our orchestra. If we can keep music education in schools, we can insure that our future generations will have the opportunity to become the brilliant future musicians.

Here is an interview that Kalea did below!:-) :

1. How did you feel when you were told you were the 2002 Miss National Queen? I was very excited!! It is always nice to know that when you work hard for something, it pays off in the long run. It was awesome to earn the title because I spent alot of time working on it, and the effort was definitely returned!

2. Do plan to do anything special concerning your title? During the year, I will be here to answer any questions the girls have about their state pageant. As I know from past experience, starting out in pageants can be confusing, and I always had alot of questions. I felt so much better when I had someone to get answers from, it made my whole pageant experience alot less stressful, and much more fun.

3. What are the advantages of this title in your point of view? With every event that takes place in your life, you become more experienced and comfortable with yourself. With a new title, I will be able to help the other girls, do interviews like this, and become an overall more confident person.
